Conversation with Eliza Griswold – Faith and Culture Series
Eliza Griswold is one of today’s most gifted writers of long-form nonfiction: in The Tenth Parallel; in Amity and Prosperity (awarded the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction); in her intrepid reportage for The New Yorker; and in her new book, Circle of Hope, about a progressive evangelical church in Philadelphia and its members’ efforts to live out the Gospel in fresh and creative ways – ways very different from those of the conservative evangelicals whose exploits get the headlines.
In this event Griswold will discuss the new book, the demands of immersive journalism (whether in Pennsylvania or in Afghanistan), the challenge of writing about complex religious topics for a broad public, and her new role as the director of Princeton University’s Program in Journalism.
A reception and book signing will follow; copies of Circle of Hope will be available for purchase during the event.
Advance registration is required for this event.
This event is hosted in partnership with the Georgetown University Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Georgetown University Journalism Program.
