Doctors Gave the Orders: 75 Years After the Nuremberg Medical Trial
Isaac Franck Lecture: The Relevance of Medicine during the Third Reich to Contemporary Medicine by Rabbi Prof. Avraham Steinberg, MD, Director of the Medical Ethics Unit, Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem. This lecture is the opening lecture for a two-day symposium with lectures following on Friday, Dec. 2. The symposium features international experts in history, law, and ethics who will explore the Nuremberg Medical Trial, during which Nazi physicians were tried for war crimes and profound violations of the most basic ethical tenets of the medical profession. It took place 75 years ago and led to the promulgation of the Nuremberg Code.
