Speaker: David Andes, MD
Professor, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Title: “Role of Matrix Construction and Destruction in Candida Biofilm Biology”
Abstract:
Dr. Andes will discuss his work exploring the composition, delivery, and assembly of the biofilm extracellular matrix in Candida and the role these processes play in drug resistance, as well as biofilm initiation and dispersion. He will also touch base on his antifungal drug discovery program that serendipitously identified a compound that inhibits the matrix delivery process and exhibit biofilm activity.
