Creating a Virtual Inauguration
The inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden on January 20, 2021, will be a unique presidential inauguration in American history. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and following an armed attempt to interfere with the certification of the Electoral College results, the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) has asked Americans to participate in the inauguration from home, rather than join in the celebration on the National Mall. Join us for a conversation with PIC Executive Director Maju Varghese on what to expect for the inauguration of President-Elect Biden, as he discusses how the committee is creating an experience unlike its predecessors—while maintaining opportunities for Americans to get involved from across the country.
This conversation will be moderated by Mo Elleithee (SFS’94), Executive Director of the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service, and will be live-streamed across GU Politics’ social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube). Members of the Georgetown community should RSVP to receive a Zoom link.
