Annual Safety Week: Friday Activities
National Preparedness Month is observed each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies.
Help make Georgetown a safer learning, living and working environment by participating in our Annual Safety Week,beginning Monday, September 19, 2022.
Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to meet staff members from the Office of Emergency Management, Office of Neighborhood Life, Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD), Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service (GERMS), and others, and learn how you can work with them to address the safety matters important to you and our community. Featured events include:
Friday, September 23
- 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Last day of Safety Week (Announce Raffle Winner) Be sure to Participate in all of the weekly activities for a chance to win a gift basket full of exciting giveaways.
- 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Law Enforcement Torch Run Join GUPD for a fun, casual annual run to support the D.C Special Olympics Team.
- 11:00 am Check-in/ Race starts @ 12:00 p.m. D.C Special Olympics Torch Run Meeting Location (Historic Congressional Cemetery– 1801 E Street Southeast, DC)
