A Conversation with Khalid Albaih of Khartoon!
Khalid Albaih is a Romanian born, Qatar raised, Sudanese award-winning artist, political cartoonist, and cultural producer based between Doha and Copenhagen. Besides his two books KHARTOON! and Sudan Retold on the shelves of international bookshops, Khalid publishes his political cartoons and political commentary on current affairs in various established media outlets, publications, and books.
Khalid is the founder of the award-winning space sharing platform getfadaa.com, Sudan Art and Design, Sudan Artist Fund and @DohaFashionFridays. He serves on boards and consults for several global art and media initiatives.
About the Event: Albaih will speak about his work capturing the political situation in Sudan through his art in his new book, Sudan Retold. He will also speak about using art to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and heightened racial tensions around the world. Albaih is also a leading voice on race relations in Sudan and in the MENA region more broadly. This will be a live event with an opportunity for audience Q&A.
Dr. Rochelle Davis, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Georgetown University, will moderate the event.
