A Conversation with Ambassador Roya Rahmani: The Ongoing Crisis for Women and Girls in Afghanistan
Afghanistan’s first female ambassador to the United States Roya Rahmani will discuss the ongoing crisis for women and girls in Afghanistan. She will share what she is hearing from women who have been evacuated from Kabul as well as those who remain under Taliban rule, and consider possible interventions by the international community to safeguard women’s lives and rights.

Ambassador Roya Rahmani is currently a distinguished fellow at Georgetown Institute of Women, Peace and Security. She previously served as Afghan Ambassador to the United States and non-resident ambassador to Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
Ambassador Melanne Verveer, executive director of the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security, will moderate the timely conversation.
