May 4, 2011 – The Prince of Wales arrived at the university to much fanfare just minutes before delivering his May 4 speech on sustainable agriculture at Georgetown.
For the last 30 years, the British royal has worked to make people aware of the perils he believes will challenge sustainable food production, such as climate change coupled with a decline in the yield of food staples.
The prince's speech was part of a daylong conference, The Future of Food, sponsored by Washington Post Live. He last visited campus in 2005 for a discussion on faith and social responsibility.
