Associate Professor Elected Marketing Science Newsletter Editor

Luc Wathieu, associate professor of marketing at the McDonough School of Business, will join the board of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science after being elected newsletter editor.

February 23, 2011 – Luc Wathieu, associate professor of marketing at the McDonough School of Business, has been elected newsletter editor of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS).

INFORMS stands for the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, the largest professional society in the world for operations research, management science and business analytics.

As editor of the ISMS newsletter, Wathieu will hold a seat on the board of the ISMS, which makes the organization’s decisions regarding journals, conferences and scholarships.

Wathieu’s research combines economics and psychology to understand consumer engagement – what motivates consumers to willingly interact with firms and actively discover or co-create new products and benefits.

His work has been published in top academic journals such as Management Science, Marketing Science, the Journal of Consumer Research and the Harvard Business Review.

Before joining Georgetown in August 2010, Wathieu taught marketing management and marketing research at the European School of Management and Technology in Berlin; at Harvard Business School, and at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
