Sustainability and Georgetown
Georgetown is committed to addressing critical sustainability challenges in our local and global communities. Through approaches that reflect our Jesuit heritage, our core mission of creating knowledge and our commitment to justice and common good, we seek to foster a deeper understanding and spur action on the issues. The university pursues broad-based, practical approaches to sustainability in its daily operations, including an ambitious commitment to cut our carbon footprint in half by 2020. On campus, we implement real-world sustainability solutions by using the campus as a living laboratory and developing a long-term sustainability strategy to guide our work.
Georgetown students will present the Sustainable Oceans Summit on April 25 that highlights the social and economic investments capable of restoring ocean health, safeguarding natural resources and promoting economic growth. International experts will address scientific, political, business and entrepreneurial viewpoints to encourage cross-sector collaboration. Can’t join us in Washington. D.C.? Watch the summit live 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
