The Healey Family Student Center

A New Hub of Student Life on Campus

Healey Family Student Center Great Room South View

The Healey Family Student Center in New South residence hall is the newest addition to a more vibrant student life on campus and is open to the entire community. A gift from the Healey family helped create the new student center and students provided funding for the outdoor terrace.

The new student center includes 44,000 square feet of programming and social space, including:

  • Bulldog Tavern, a pub serving food to all and alcohol to those 21 and older
  • Hilltoss, a salad and smoothie service from The Corp
  • A "great room" with a fireplace hearth, couches, tables and chairs overlooking the Potomac River
  • A TV lounge
  • Four music practice rooms
  • Two dance studios
  • Individual study space
  • 12 study rooms
  • 3 large conference rooms

The 2-floor student center includes a new entrance from Library Walk and redesigned entrances at the ground level across from Leo's and from the Village A courtyard. The entrance across from Leo's is ADA accessible and elevators provide accessibility to the second floor and the entrance by Village A. The south side facing the Potomac River will feature a new terrace with fire pits, green space and outdoor seating.

The Healey Family Student Center opened on September 5, 2014. Bulldog Tavern will open October 31 and Hilltoss will open November 1.
