Kosovo President, Leader Pelosi Join International Leaders to Discuss Women, Peace & Security

  • Monica McWilliams, Northern Ireland human rights advocate;
  • Melanne Verveer, former U.S. Ambassador for Global Women's Issues, director of Georgetown University's Institute for Women, Peace and Security;
  • With special closing remarks by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, U.S. House of Representatives.
Four international leaders from Europe and the United States will gather for an insightful panel discussion on the roles of women in war and peace in the 21st century. The panel is organized and sponsored by the new Institute for Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., which focuses on the impact of women's participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, mitigation of humanitarian emergencies, post-conflict reconstruction and political transitions.
