Leaders Gather at Georgetown to Combat Human Trafficking

WHO:

The symposium will bring together notable government, academic, not for profit and business leaders to discuss and help reengineer the fight against human trafficking. Keynote speakers include:

  • Mira Sorvino, Academy Award-winning actress and United Nations (UN) Goodwill Ambassador on Human Trafficking;
  • John Morton, Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE);
  • Ambassador Luis CdeBaca, Ambassador at Large, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, U.S. Department of State; and
  • Tony West, Acting Associate Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice.
WHAT:
Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of International Migration and Deloitte will host an event addressing immigration-related law enforcement challenges through the lens of anti-human trafficking (AHT). The theme of the event, "Transforming the Coalition," will bring together government, academic, not for profit and business leaders to help reengineer the fight against human trafficking. The event is symbolically taking place in January, in recognition of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
