Top Diplomats Gather to Discuss U.S.-Asia Policy in the Next Administration

WHO:

Top past and present U.S. diplomats to Asia, including:

  • Dr. Kurt Campbell, assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs (June 2009 – Present);
  • Former assistant secretaries of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs:
    • Ambassador Christopher Hill (April 8, 2005 – April 20, 2009);
    • Ambassador Winston Lord (April 23, 1993 – February 18, 1997); and
    • Ambassador Richard Solomon (June 23, 1989 – July 10, 1992).

This panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Victor Cha, director of the Asian Studies Program at Georgetown's Walsh School of Foreign Service and member of the National Security Council (2004-2007).

WHAT: This event will feature a rare collection of America's top past and present diplomats on Asia stretching from the George H.W. Bush administration to the Barack Obama administration. Our distinguished panelists will engage each other in a discussion on the Obama administration's record in Asia and the challenges and tasks for the future.
