DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson to Receive Honorary Degree at Georgetown University

Honorary Degree Ceremony in Honor of Kaya Henderson

Kaya Henderson will receive an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, from Georgetown University in recognition of her integrity, passion for justice, and determination to ensure a high quality education and an environment of success for students, teachers, and families.

Kaya Henderson earned her bachelor's degree in international relations from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service in 1992, and her Executive Master's in Leadership in 2007 from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business.

She came to District of Columbia Public Schools as Deputy Chancellor in 2007, leading the district's human capital efforts and serving as chief negotiator for the groundbreaking 2010 contract between DCPS and the Washington Teachers' Union. In June of 2011, the DC City Council named Kaya Henderson as DCPS Chancellor.
