A Conference Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the Georgetown University Italian Department and the Embassy of Italy will host an interdisciplinary conference on themes that have proven of crucial importance throughout the history of the nation. Ambassador Terzi will give opening remarks. Panel topics include the theater and music of Italy, politics of integration and disintegration, and Italian Americans and their identities through and in language. Speakers include scholars from Georgetown University, Fordham University, New York University, the University of Texas, Seton Hall University, Montclair State University, and Duke University.
