Released: Jan. 31, 2011 12:15 pm
The following is a statement from Julie Green Bataille, associate vice president for communications and university spokesperson:
"The Qatar Airways flight with Georgetown University's students studying abroad in Cairo, Egypt has just landed safely in Doha, Qatar. All of our undergraduate students were on the flight and are now in Doha with representatives from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service campus there. We are grateful to all those who worked with us expeditiously to make safe transportation available to safely get our students out of Cairo.
"Our students will be hosted by students and staff at Georgetown's School of Foreign Service campus in Doha for the next few days as we determine the most appropriate next steps to meet their individual needs. Our first priority was to ensure their safe transport out of Egypt. We will now begin to focus on appropriate next steps as students consult with family members and academic advisors."
