Social Sciences Students

Interested in the psychology of terrorism or study a foreign society? Want to take a class on family and gender in Japan? Opportunities to explore the social sciences at Georgetown are vast.

Our curriculum in the departments of psychology, sociology, anthropology challenges students to reflect upon social, economic, political and cultural perspectives. We have an intellectually diverse community of scholars engaged in research addressing psychological processes and a wide variety of cultural and social issues.

Many courses incorporate community-based learning into the curriculum, embracing the Jesuit tradition of social justice with unique projects that help others here and abroad. Our location in Washington, D.C., also provides ample opportunities to study the social impact of technology, politics and political communication.

Our students and scholars are committed to understanding and communicating the complex linkages between culture and power in changing local, national and global circumstances.
