  • Women in Medicine, Georgetown

    Georgetown Women in Medicine (GWIM) seeks to strengthen the role of women faculty at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) by addressing challenges experienced by women faculty including the proportion of women in key leadership positions, pay inequities, retention during childbearing years, and challenges in obtaining promotion and tenure. GWIM mentors women faculty, hosts professional development programs, and communicates GWIM’s activities to the Medical Center.

  • Microbiology and Immunology, Department of

    The Department of Microbiology and Immunology possesses an enviable faculty and training program. Faculty interests include the pathogenesis and basic biology of the fungus Candida albicans; the molecular biology of viral hepatitis; the molecular and cellular biology of the Hepatitis B and the Delta, Dengue and West Nile viruses. For students with an interest in the interaction between scientific progress and formation of government policy, the department offers a Master of Science degree program that allows a student to specialize in science policy and advocacy.

    The Center for Multicultural Equity and Access (CMEA) promotes educational excellence and racial equality at Georgetown by serving African American, Latino, Asian American and Native American students, who were historically excluded from the university.   • Museum Studies Program

    Georgetown University’s M.A. degree program in Art and Museum Studies brings academic study of art museums together with museum practice, and emphasizes the international contexts of museums in the modern world. Through courses, individual research, and internships, students work closely with Georgetown art history faculty, curators, and other museum professionals in Washington DC, and with faculty specialists at Sotheby's Institute of Art in London or New York. The twelve-month course of study combines courses in museology and art history with internships at some of Washington’s premier art institutions.

  • Music Program

    The Music Program at Georgetown offers a wide range of academic courses (music history, arts journalism, music theory, composition and audio technology) and performance opportunities. We specialize in all forms of music associated with American culture, including jazz, rock, hip-hop, dance, film, popular music from around the world and music stemming from the Western European tradition (from the 17th century to the present). Performance groups include the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Music Ensembles, Pep Band, Georgetown Jazz Band, Jazz Combos, and Guild of Bands (a consortium of student rock bands), all of which are eligible for academic credit.
